If you were in Bristol for the light festival over the weekend you might have seen our projection mapped animation on the @arnolfiniarts building. We created it for @sendacow as part of their ‘Living with Wildlife’ campaign, it was presented alongside many other light artworks at the @bristol_light_fest

We’re super excited to announce that we’re developing a new project for an international exhibition
It uses the same framework as our previous project ‘Multiply’ seen in this video
The new project is called ‘Critical Point’ and it explores collective behaviour in nature. Inspired by the group dynamics of flocking starlings who’s large-scale coordination during murmuration is arguably nature’s most beautiful example of what scientists describe as “biological criticality”
Systems that are poised to tip, on the brink of a great and instantaneous transition, like an avalanche or a liquid turning to gas

We were blown away by the reaction to our immersive film ‘Countdown’ created for @edenprojectcornwall in 2019, it has filled us with hope that institutions and the general public are ready to engage with environmental issues in 2020
The 360 degree film was exhibited as part of the summer exhibition ‘Earth Story’ and was visited by almost 200,000 people
The floor to ceiling content contrasted beautiful and rare footage of endangered and extinct animals with worrying facts about the human impact on global biodiversity
It also provided some hope through examples of species that have been brought back from the brink as a result of conservation efforts
Limbic Cinema directed, edited, provided filmed footage and delivered the technical aspects of this project. It was researched and written by @edenprojectcornwall with archive content support from @wildscreenorg

The site-specific animation built on the geological significance of this location, exploring how human activity is recorded in the strata and asking what future geologists might learn about the impressions we leave in the layers of rocks on Earth
The Anthropocene, which is now recognised as the geological time period associated with humans, has some very worrying signatures associated with it, from plutonium 239 as a result of nuclear activity, to micro plastics from a myriad of sources including fertilisers
These signatures have emerged only very recently and will last millions of years
The content encourages people to think about different time-scales, how our short term decision making can leave extremely long-term impressions on our planet, and how our ability to cooperate can overcome the negative impact we have had since the beginning of the great acceleration
